I like to consider myself a young entrepreneurial woman. My goal one day is to own my own business. I’m currently learning invaluable skills as a Digital Marketing Manager for a startup company and I’m teaching myself along the way with my side hustle projects. One of my many goals for 2018 is to read a variety of books. Some are very specific interests of mine (that may or may not have anything to do with entrepreneurship) and others are heavily based on marking, self-branding, and other important skills to know as a business owner.
2018 Reading Goals
First, I’d like to share with you my reading goals for 2018. As I mentioned, I have some very specific interests outside of running a business. I hope to travel to Peru within the next 4 years and I’m also very interested in veganism and a plant-based diet. This year, I hope to read the following…
- One book about Peruvian Culture
- Two books about Veganism or a Plant-Based Diet
- Three books about Entrepreneurship or Marketing
Now that you know the types of books I’m aiming to read this year, I thought I’d share with you the 15 books that are up for selection.

Peruvian Culture
As I mentioned earlier, I’m like to travel to Peru within the next 4 years. Before that, I want to prepare myself as much as possible, research places to visit, practice my Spanish, plan out my itinerary, and learn as much as I can about the culture.
Turn Right at Machu Picchu: Rediscovering the Lost City One Step at a Time
The Peru Reader: History, Culture, Politics (The Latin America Readers)
Veganism / Plant-Based
If you’ve been following my blog for about a year now, then you’ll know that I’ve recently made the change to follow a plant-based diet. With that being said, I want to fully immerse myself in the details and become as knowledgeable as I can on the subject. I want to know all the positives (and negatives) of eating a plant-based diet.
The China Study: The Most Comprehensive Study of Nutrition Ever Conducted
Whole: Rethinking the Science of Nutrition
How Not to Die: Discover the Foods Scientifically Prove to Prevent and Reverse Disease
Entrepreneurship / Marketing
We’ve finally made it to the most exciting part of the list! I want to hone in on a few skills to better prepare me for when I make the jump to own my own business and become self-employed. I’m very interested in social media and creating content – two things that I currently and actively do.

I added this last one in because these books are always on my mind and I’d really like to read them. If I have the chance, these would be next on my list.

The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life
The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love that Lasts
Of all of these books that I’ve listed, I know that two of them for sure are on my reading list for 2018. I’m currently reading The China Study and the other is, Different: Escaping the Competitive Herd. If you follow me on Instagram, then you know that ‘Different’ is a word that’s been popping up in my world recently. With that being said, I decided to make it one of my focus words for the year. When I saw the book title, I knew that I needed to read it this year! What books are on your list for 2018?
