Your readers want to connect with you! Having a detailed and engaging About Page is extremely important.

Writing about your self can be awkward and just overall uncomfortable. But, to make a better connection with your audience you need to share a few specifics about yourself. Use my recommendations below to help get you started. Sit down and have a go at it. Write everything you think would be perfect. Now sleep on it. Come back to it the next day and revise it as needed.

Your first step will be to grab your readers attention with your side bar Bio. Give a super brief explanation of yourself. Once reading that, your readers will want to know more about you. Next, you’ll want to go more in-depth with your About Page. Here are a few things that I recommend you include…

What to Include:

1. Have a personable greeting, something you say on a regular basis. Also include 1-2 sentences of a clear and simple overview.

If your website is more formal and profession, this is the place to be relaxed. You want to make a good impression on anyone visiting your site and you want to start a relationship with them. Make it personal!

2. Explain what you do and make sure to include the following:

Let your audience know exactly what you do and how you plan on accomplishing that. Share some tid-bits about your life that someone else can relate to. Share something unique about yourself that you love.

  • Blog’s Mission Statement
  • Location
  • Passions
  • Favorite Things
  • Something that Makes you, YOU!

3. Give your readers one clear call to action. What specifically do you want them to do?

Don’t overwhelm your readers with fifteen different things to do. Limit them to one specific thing. Do you want them to read a certain post? Email you? Subscribe to your mailing list? Only having one call to action will intrigue your readers to do that one thing!

Quick Tips:

Write in first person! (This makes it more personal)
Include your contact info – even if you have a contact page
Add a photo & make sure to include your name!!
