Preparing for a new class is easier than you think! By following the tips that I’ve outlined below you’ll be well on your way to acing your new class! It’s always a good feeling when you start a new class off on the right foot. Cheers to a new school year and doing amazing things!
Keep or Throw the Old.
The very first thing that I like to do is to sort through all the old stuff from the previous semester or school year. Decide whether you’re going to keep or throw your old notebooks, folders, homework, and exams. Are they from your random general education class or from your main curriculum? You don’t need to keep everything, but some notes do come in handy from time-to-time.
Buy New Supplies.
This is one of my favorite things to do! Buying new supplies really gets you into school mode. After you’ve reviewed your syllabi (see below) you should have a good understanding of what supplies you’ll need for each class.
Pick a Planner.
If you know me, I love a good planner. And nothing says back-to-school like a new planner! I’ve recently fallen in love with the Erin Condren Life Planner, although they’re on the pricier side… If you sign up with this link you’ll receive a $10 off coupon in your inbox!
Purchase Textbooks.
Don’t leave it till the last minute to purchase any textbooks or workbooks you might need for your classes. Prices skyrocket the month before school starts!
Signup for Amazon Prime Student to get six months of Prime for free. Plus, Amazon has some FANTASTIC prices for textbooks.
It’s your best bet to start looking as soon as you know your schedule. Trust me, you’ll need up saving money and time. Also, don’t buy anything from the school bookstore. Just don’t.
Review your syllabus for each class.
Reviewing the syllabus can be one of the most important things to do before starting a new class. This is your go-to survival guide to the class, without this, you’ll miss deadlines, exams, etc. It’ll just be bad. Print if off. Read it. Take note of any important dates.
If you haven’t already, make sure to check out my 6 Things to do During Syllabus Week post! It’ll boost your preparedness for classes even more!
Organize your Planner.
If you can, utilize Google Calendar or a planner to keep you organized! Write down important dates (this includes any school holidays or breaks! ?) Write down when specific assignments and papers are due and whenever you have any quizzes or exams. Keep your planner organized can really help you succeed all semester long! Make sure to read How to Organize your Agenda or Planner.
Organize Your Desk.
Now that you have all your supplies and your planner is organized. It’s time to arrange your desk into the perfect little wonder that it is. Because you know it’ll be a mess within a week anyways. It’s good to start the school year on the right foot!
