You know those countless samples you have stored away somewhere? Samples are a great way to try out products before spending the money on them. It’s like a trial run or test drive. But sometimes those samples can pile up and get a little overwhelming. Here are a few ways to use them up or give them away.
Organize & Sort every 1-3 months.
Depending on how frequently you acquire new samples, it’s important to organize and sort them every 1-3 months. This will help you visual what you have. You could organize them by brand or by purpose, I prefer the later of the two. Everyones stash of samples will be different, for some reason I have a large amount of sunscreen samples! ?
Plan.
Once a week I will go through my samples and pick out the ones I want to use. I often forget to use my samples. When I’m getting ready in the morning and at night I’m so focused on my routine that I forget about my samples that are tucked away in my vanity. In order to remember them, I will leave the ones I’ve picked out for the week on my bathroom counter.
This next week, I plan on using Fresh’s Seaberry Skin Boost, Ole Henriksen’s melting cleanser, Philosophy’s Miracle Worker moisturizer, Kat Von D’s lock-it primer, and SkinInc’s Hydrating Mask.
Donate.
After you’ve organized and sorted your samples you may have noticed that you have a few that you just don’t care for. And you might also find some that you keep planning to use, but it just never happens. These are good items to donate! Donating your samples or even larger full-size products can go a long way.
Where to Donate:
Dress for Success – A non-profit organization that helps women prepare for job interviews, they accept business clothes as well as cosmetics.
Beauty Bus Foundation – A charity that provides mini-makeovers for terminally ill patients and their caregivers. A mini makeover can help to brighten someone’s and and lift their spirits.
Women’s Shelter – Another place you might look is your local women’s shelter. Here, beauty donation would be highly appreciated.
The Salvation Army – The Salvation Army is a non-profit Christian organization that helps in a multitude of different ways. They also accept unopened, unused products.
I place all of my donations in a Sephora bag, that way they’re ready to go when I’m ready to donate them!
