I love this little DIY project that uses printed Instagram photos to create an awesome collage of your favorite photos! Below you will find step by step instructions on how to create your own Instagram Collage!
What you’ll need…
1. Canvas
2. Instagram Photos
3. Mod Podge
4. Paint
5. Paint Brushes
6. Pencil
7. Ruler
8. Scissors
My canvas was 24×36 and fit 54 Instagram photos. I print my photos using an app called PostalPix. I’ve been using this app for years and I absolutely love it!
When printing your photos from PostalPix chose the 4×4 option and either choose from your Instagram photos or from one of your albums. Depending on the size of your canvas you’ll need certain amount of photos.
Here’s how many photos you’ll need for various canvas sizes!
12×16 – 12 photos
16×20 – 20 photos
20×24 – 30 photos
24×36 – 54 photos
36×48 – 108 photos
You can find a canvas, Mod Podge, paint, and paint brushes at your local arts & crafts store. I typically either go to Michaels or Hobby Lobby – these stores usually have pretty good coupons!
Organize.
After collecting all of your supplies, the first thing you’ll want to do is organize your photos.
Lay out your photos on the canvas in the order that you want and then create a stack of photos for each row. This will make adhering them later much easier.
Because each canvas is unique and vary in size you may need to trim the edges of some of your photos. (This is what the pencil, ruler, and scissors are for).
Start To Paint.
Next step is to paint the edges of your canvas! Feel free to pain whichever color you like! Painting the edges will make the final product look complete. I chose to do multiple coats and I also painted along the edge and in the middle just incase there might be gaps between my photos.
Mod Podge Time.
After your paint has dried it’s time to adhere your photos! Using your paint brush, put Mod Podge on the canvas and then place your photo on top. Continue doing this process for each photo until complete! (Be careful not to use too much Mod Podge). Allow your photos/adhesive to dry until moving onto the next step!
Mod Podge Again?!
Now you’ll need to apply a coat of Mod Podge on top of your photos in order to seal and protect it! The adhesive will dry clear so don’t worry about it looking scary! You’ll need to work quickly, and again, try not to use globs and globs of Mod Podge. Allow the top coat to dry completely before handling!
Hang on your wall for all to see!
Here’s the finished project now proudly hanging on my wall!
This project would be great as a present to a loved one or best friend. You could also make a motivation or inspiration collage for yourself!
