Organizing A Small College Room: Tips & Tricks

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of True Value. The opinions and text are all mine.

Nothing can describe the feeling you get when you walk into your dorm room or college apartment for the first time. This is going to be your new home (for at least a semester) and it’s time to make it your own!

An empty college room is a blank canvas that is full of possibilities. You can rearrange the furniture just how you like it, hang tapestries and photos on the wall, and you can drape starry lights all over the room.

Organizing Your Small Space.

Often, tight spaces can be hard to decorate and keep organized. Being crammed into one small room (that you probably have to share with another person) can seem suffocating if you don’t organize your space in an efficient way.

Thankfully, True Value has some amazing organization options. Their items give me the ability to create both a functional and stylish space. I found some amazing pieces after roaming the aisles of a True Value store. Not only do I think these pieces are essential for organizing a small space, but also aesthetically pleasing when given a decorative touch.

A Clothing Rack.

Closet space is always something that tends to be a tight squeeze. I knew I would want to find a clothing rack to give me more space for my clothes.

Plus, after adding some string lights and my favorite clothing pieces – it’s BEAUTIFUL! I’m so happy I was able to find this clothing rack to not only utilize the space better but to also add to the ambiance of my room.

A Cube Organizer.

Miscellaneous storage is always tough to tackle. You don’t want things to be shoved away and hard to reach when you need them the most. No matter if you’re storing books, cleaning supplies, clothes, or cameras, a cube organizer is what you need.

Small Details.

Here are a few other items I suggest you consider purchasing when designing your small space. Having these items will help to keep your room even more organized! The laundry basket would fit perfectly under the clothing rack and you could find a home for everything else within your cube shelves.

Designing For Success.

When designing your dorm space, it’s critical to think of all the possibilities. Can you easily access the items you need? Will you have enough closet space? But most importantly, is the space fit for doing homework and studying? With the layout I created, I can easily roam around my room while cramming for an exam.
