Surviving Rainy Days in College

Whether you go to school on a small or large campus rainy days can be daunting. Trekking across campus with the wind blowing in your face while trying to avoid puddles is down right terrible. Trust me I’ve been there. Below you’ll find the key essentials to surviving rainy days in college. Without these items I think I would melt. The saying does say “April Showers bring May Flowers.” Prepare for those April showers so you don’t get caught in a thunderstorm!

Rain Boots.

My biggest protector against a rainy day is my rain boots. Without these my little toes would be soaked in mere seconds. At my school in particularly the sidewalks have a tendency to flood and create puddles easily. I wouldn’t be caught without my boots in the rain (or snow!) My Simmens Waterproof Ugg Boots double as both!

An Umbrella.

My trusty umbrella is my next rainy day gadget. Although this can get a bit tricky if it’s windy outside… It’s completely reliable when it’s not. ? This can double as a super cute accessory while keeping your dry from the rain! I prefer a compact one that I can keep in my backpack’s side pocket while it’s not raining.

Rain Coat.

For an extra layer of safety a rain coat is needed. Also, a hooded rain coat is perfect for those days where your umbrella would flip inside out in 2.0 seconds as soon as you step out the door. Here’s my favorite one by The North Face. Some rain coats can even double as a light jacket all throughout Spring and Autumn!

Travel Mug.

Rain usually goes hand in hand with cold. To keep warm during my mile long trek across campus I always make sure to pack my trusty travel mug filled with my favorite coffee or tea. This always seems to lift my spirits and warm my soul on a gloomy rainy day.

Makeup?!

For those of you that love wearing makeup and insist on wearing it not matter what, a rainy day can put you in a troublesome situation. You don’t want raccoon eyes from your mascara or streaks in your foundation. Although these items won’t stand up to hurricane like storms they will survive a light sprinkle or drizzle. All of the products found below have some type of water resistant properties.
